Polaris Industries acquires Swiss engine designer

Polaris Industries Inc. announced Wednesday that it bought a division of a Swiss engine design company.
The Medina-based power sports equipment manufacturer bought the power sports division of Swissauto, which operates out of Burgdorf, Switzerland and has about 15 employees. The company started designing and producing internal combustion engines in 1989. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Polaris (NYSE: PII) uses Swissauto engines in several of its snowmobile models. Aside from recreational engines, Swissauto also makes performance racing engines and racing bikes.
The automotive division of Swissauto will continue to function as a separate company.
